Grease

Grease is a good film that represents the stereotypes of the 1950's. Danny represents the typical male. He is detached from his emotions and refuses to show Sandy that he cares for her. Sandy represents the opposite side. She is a family oriented , good girl who is very well put together. She doesn't wear make up and is very good compared to her friends. Rizo also represents the down look on the woman who "sleeps around." She has the pregnancy scare and is not looked upon highly throughout the movie because she does not agree with what females should typically be acting, like Sandy, in society. Danny's whole "gang" of friends represents the guys of the 1950's in that--aside from dress--they act unemotionally, although they actually are in relationships and care for the woman. They are worried that they will be seen as fragile and weak if they act against the typical stereotype.

PRESENTATION about 1950's ads

This is an advertisement for using Lysol for douching. the ad basically shows that women must douche using Lysol or her marriage could be ruined by her "dirty". The image shows the beautiful "clean" white woman being intimate with her handsome white husband, while the "dirty" undouched woman watches unsure of her "daintiness". my reading of this ad is that woman must douche, especially with Lysol, or they will lose their feminine daintiness and their husband. I think it shows how back then women did everything just for men and being an object to men.
